The Russian Ministry of Digital Development has instructed hosting and CDN providers to isolate the IP addresses of resources included in the "whitelist" into separate networks. This measure is being implemented to prevent VPN services and other prohibited resources from operating through the infrastructure of authorized websites.
Experts note that this innovation will significantly complicate the operation of VPN services. Although the use of VPN services is not completely banned in Russia, configuring them and ensuring their stable performance is becoming increasingly difficult for ordinary users.
Authorities emphasize that the use of VPN services is not recommended for security reasons and state that the process of blocking them will continue. At the same time, representatives of the Russian State Duma have stated that there are no plans to fine ordinary citizens for bypassing blocks via VPN.
It should be kept in mind that many companies use VPN technologies for corporate purposes, and such activities are not subject to restrictions. However, as the management and control of the internet network intensify, access to free internet resources may change in the future.
