The second stage of the federal comprehensive operational-preventive operation "Illegal Migrant-2026" took place in the Republic of Karelia from October 1 to October 10, 2026. Personnel from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karelia, the Federal Security Service, and Rosgvardia participated in the event.
During the operation, inspections were conducted at the places of residence and work of foreign citizens. As a result, more than 120 cases of migration law violations were recorded, with over 70 of them related to violations of stay regulations in Russia. In total, administrative fines exceeding 2,000,000 rubles were imposed.
Following the violations, a decision was made to administratively expel 18 foreigners from Russian territory. Of these, 14 are to be expelled under mandatory procedures, while 4 are required to leave independently. Additionally, 51 foreign citizens were banned from entering Russia, and 10 residence permits (VNJ) were revoked.
Furthermore, 10 investigation materials were registered regarding cases of fictitious registration of foreigners, and 2 criminal cases were initiated. Traffic police officers identified over 15 traffic violations committed by foreign drivers.
