56-year-old migrant arrested for crime committed 11 years ago

Moscow police have solved a robbery of a bank on Warsaw Highway that took place in July 2015. According to investigators, at that time, an unidentified person entered the bank, threatened cashiers with an object resembling a weapon, stole more than 9 million rubles (in rubles, euros, and US dollars), and fled the scene.

At the time of the crime, police officers found a jacket that might have belonged to the perpetrator in a trash container near the bank. Forensic experts extracted an unknown person's DNA profile from the clothing and entered it into a federal database. However, it was not possible to identify the suspect at that time.

11 years later, based on data received from the Tver Region Interior Ministry's forensic center, it was determined that the DNA profile matched the genetic data of a 56-year-old citizen from a neighboring country. Subsequently, a forensic portrait examination and the testimony of one of the victims confirmed the identity of the suspect.

As a result of an operational operation conducted by officers of the Russian Interior Ministry and Moscow police, the suspect was arrested at his place of residence in the Moscow region. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery), and he has been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.
