Criminal case against former head of foreign national detention center suspended

The criminal case initiated against Alexey Lagoda, the former head of the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens (SVSIG) located in the village of Sakharovo, Moscow, has been temporarily suspended. According to law enforcement agencies, the colonel signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and left for the special military operation zone.

Lagoda was accused of bribery between August 2023 and August 2024. According to the investigation, he and other center staff were suspected of receiving over 1 million rubles in exchange for accepting parcels, bypassing established rules. It was also revealed that two inspectors serving at the center had demanded money from migrants' relatives, promising to organize meetings and expedite their return to their home countries.

The former head did not admit to the charges and claimed that his subordinates had slandered him. Currently, the assets of the accused, worth over 32 million rubles, have been seized. Due to Lagoda's departure for military service, the trial against him has been suspended.
