Sharing radical content online leads to 10-year prison sentence

The 1st Western District Military Court in Saint Petersburg has delivered a verdict against Saidamin Ruzikulov. He was found guilty of distributing a video online that justified the activities of banned organizations and contained calls to support them.

According to court documents, in October 2021, Ruzikulov, while in Karelia, posted radical content on social media. This action was classified as a crime under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public justification of terrorism and calls for it).

By the court's decision, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years in a maximum-security penal colony. This sentence was imposed in conjunction with a previous court ruling. Additionally, the court banned Ruzikulov from managing internet resources and channels for two years.

Experts remind that distributing suspicious materials on the internet, as well as 'liking' or sharing them, can lead to serious legal consequences under the law. It is recommended to familiarize oneself with the list of organizations banned in Russia and to follow internet safety rules.
