Sergey Wagner, Head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Komi Republic, presented a report on the state of law and order in the region at a meeting held on October 21. According to the report, crimes committed by foreign citizens accounted for 0.7 percent of the total figure during the first 9 months of 2026.
According to statistical data, this figure has decreased significantly compared to the same period last year. In the first 9 months of 2025, the share of crimes committed by migrants was 1.3 percent. Specifically, the number of crimes dropped from 50 to 26. It was also noted that the number of grave and especially grave crimes decreased from 15 to 5.
This year, law enforcement agencies did not record any crimes related to drug trafficking or sexual assault. Among the identified violations, there were two attempts at bribery and one case of an extremist nature related to the public display of prohibited symbols.
According to regional analysis, the figures in the Komi Republic are significantly lower than the Russian average (3.4 percent) and the statistics for the Northwestern Federal District (4.1 percent). However, in a territorial breakdown, an increase in crime was observed in the city of Usinsk: 12 offenses were recorded there in the first 9 months of 2026, while this figure was 6 during the same period last year.
