A serious incident occurred on the night of October 2 at a construction site in the city of Sertolovo, Leningrad Region. A 32-year-old citizen of a Central Asian country, who lived in a construction trailer, was hospitalized with stab wounds. Doctors assess the victim's condition as severe.
Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene identified the suspect. A 41-year-old compatriot was detained that same day on the construction site premises. According to preliminary investigation data, the conflict arose due to a domestic dispute, and the suspect inflicted several knife blows.
During the investigation, it was revealed that both individuals were staying on the territory of the Russian Federation illegally. A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and the suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
According to Russian legislation, foreign citizens staying in the country illegally are not only subject to administrative liability but, in the event of committing a crime, can also face severe criminal penalties and, after serving their sentence, may be deported from the country.
