The Bogoroditsk inter-district court of the Tula region has issued a verdict against a woman accused of disseminating information on social media that incites ethnic hatred. According to the court's decision, a citizen of a Central Asian state was fined 12,000 rubles.
According to court documents, on February 3 of this year, the woman left a comment on an internet post. The post was dedicated to the topic of the deportation of Tajik citizens, and the woman's comment was found to contain content that demeans the dignity of citizens of the Russian Federation.
During the trial, the woman pleaded guilty. She explained that the comment was prompted by insults directed at her child by other users, and she expressed remorse, stating that she had acted impulsively and committed an inappropriate act.
This incident serves as a reminder to migrants living in Russia that any correspondence on social media can lead to legal consequences. Any remarks on the internet that incite national, racial, or religious hatred result in administrative and criminal liability under Russian law.
