In the city of Orenburg, a foreign national has been detained on suspicion of attempting to bribe a traffic police officer. The incident occurred on Dzerzhinsky Avenue in the city center.
Officers from the Russian Interior Ministry's Orenburg department stopped a Lada Granta vehicle after the driver violated traffic rules by failing to yield to a pedestrian. During the inspection, it was discovered that the 40-year-old driver lacked the documents required to operate a vehicle.
In an attempt to avoid administrative liability, the driver tried to bribe the inspector with 3,000 rubles by placing the money in the car door pocket. Despite being warned by law enforcement officers that such actions constitute a crime, he persisted in his intent.
An investigative-operational group was called to the scene. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the foreign national under Part 1 of Article 291.2 (petty bribery) and Part 3 of Article 30 (preparation for a crime and attempted crime) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The court has imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the city and to maintain proper conduct.
