Responsibility for extremist activity in Russia: minors are also being listed

The Federal Financial Monitoring Service of Russia (Rosfinmonitoring) has included a 14-year-old student from Samara in its list of terrorists and extremists. According to information released on October 8, the student is suspected of possessing prohibited literature and participating in extremist internet chats.

Law enforcement officials determined that the girl was apprehended after attacking a classmate with a knife. She is currently under a 30-day arrest and has been sent for compulsory treatment. During the investigation, it was revealed that she had fallen under the influence of extremist groups.

According to data from the press service of the Russian Security Council from July of this year, the number of teenagers who have committed terrorist crimes as a result of recruitment has increased by 2.2 times, and the number of minors who have committed extremist-related crimes has risen by 1.4 times.

This situation highlights the importance of parents and guardians monitoring their children's internet activity and the circles in which they communicate. According to legislation, the storage or distribution of extremist materials can lead to serious legal consequences, including criminal liability.
