Criminal case opened against migrant who submitted fake language certificate

Officers of the Russian Interior Ministry's department for the city of Penza have opened a criminal case against a foreign national born in 2001. He is suspected of violating Part 3 of Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (forgery of documents).

It was established that the 25-year-old migrant applied to the migration department to obtain a work permit. The certificate of Russian language proficiency he submitted raised doubts among police officers regarding its authenticity. An expert examination confirmed that the document was forged.

During questioning, the young man admitted that he had ordered the certificate via internet messengers and received it by mail. Investigative actions are currently underway regarding this incident.

According to Russian legislation, a person found guilty under this article may face up to one year of imprisonment. Law enforcement agencies are urging migrants to use only legal channels for obtaining official documents.
