A major theft occurred at a hostel located in the Novoivanovskoye settlement of the Odintsovo urban district in Russia's Moscow region. Local media reported this, citing information from the regional department of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya).
Rosgvardiya officers arrived at the hostel on Zapadnaya Street after a panic button was pressed at night. During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had taken advantage of his roommates' absence to steal gold and jewelry worth 250,000 rubles belonging to one of them.
In an attempt to cover his tracks, the thief hid the jewelry in a different secure location and returned to the room as if nothing had happened. However, he was apprehended at the scene shortly thereafter.
Law enforcement officers handed over the 26-year-old citizen of a neighboring country, suspected of the theft, to the police department for further investigation and legal proceedings. An inquiry into the incident is currently underway.
