Criminal case opened against migrant who resisted traffic police officer

The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Amur Region has announced the completion of an investigation into a criminal case against a 49-year-old citizen of a Central Asian state. He is charged under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence not dangerous to life or health against a representative of authority).

The incident occurred in August 2026 on the R-297 "Amur" highway. A traffic police inspector, who stopped the driver for a document check, identified signs of intoxication. Furthermore, the check revealed that the citizen's period of stay in Russia had expired, and he was driving without a driver's license of the appropriate category and in violation of tachograph regulations.

Fearing the issuance of an administrative report and the impounding of his vehicle, the driver attempted to flee the scene. When the inspector tried to stop him, the accused struck the officer several times in the neck and shoulder area. As a result, the officer sustained minor injuries but managed to turn off the engine and apprehend the driver.

During the investigation, the victim's testimony and footage from the patrol car's dashcam were used as evidence. Although the accused did not admit his guilt, the court ordered him to be held in custody as a preventive measure. The criminal case is currently being prepared for trial.
