On August 18, law enforcement officers detained two Tajik citizens, Khasanchon R. and Yorgibegi M., at the Sadovod market in Moscow. The men's arrival at the market in women's clothing drew the attention of bystanders, and police officers arrived at the scene shortly thereafter.
During the court proceedings, administrative protocols were drawn up against the individuals under the article concerning "LGBT* propaganda" in accordance with Russian legislation. According to the court's decision, their appearance and style of dress were deemed to be "aimed at promoting non-traditional sexual relations."
It was revealed in court that both detainees are married and have children (one has one child, the other has four). Despite this, the court sentenced each of them to 10 days of administrative detention.
Following the completion of their sentence, it was ordered that both individuals be forcibly deported from the Russian Federation. They are currently being held at a detention center for foreign nationals.
*The movement is banned in the Russian Federation.
