Alexander Sternik, Director of the Third CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the measures being taken against illegal migration are yielding results. The official emphasized that these actions are aimed at preventing offenses committed by foreigners working in the country and ensuring security.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry, about 73,000 foreign citizens were deported from the country in the first half of 2026. This figure was recorded as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen migration control.
Furthermore, in the first six months of the current year, law enforcement agencies identified 27,800 cases related to violations of migration legislation. Authorities emphasize that the goal of these measures is to protect the rights of law-abiding foreigners and Russian citizens.
For migrants, these statistics underscore the importance of processing documents and strictly adhering to legal requirements. Any instance of law-breaking can lead to expulsion from the country.
