Preventive measures 'Gastarbeiter' concluded in Russia

Officers from the Migration Department of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Kostroma region conducted a preventive operation codenamed 'Gastarbeiter' from August 10 to August 14. During the event, authorities checked foreign citizens' compliance with residency rules, the validity of work permits, and their registration at their places of residence.

Throughout the operation, law enforcement officers, supported by the Russian National Guard, inspected nearly 150 locations where migrants work and reside. During the checks, approximately 1,000 foreign citizens and their employers were screened.

As a result of the inspections, over 60 administrative offenses were identified. Specifically, cases involving violations of stay regulations in Russia, illegal labor activities, and expired patent deadlines were recorded. Additionally, 5 instances of employers illegally hiring foreign nationals were uncovered.

Furthermore, 2 criminal cases were initiated regarding the fictitious registration of foreign citizens. Appropriate measures were taken against those who committed violations. It was decided that 6 foreign citizens who breached legal requirements will be expelled from the territory of Russia.
