Uzbek woman and her child, held in a detention center in Russia, returned to their homeland

An Uzbek woman accused of violating Russian migration laws and placed in a temporary detention center has been released. Her child had been kept in an orphanage in Novosibirsk.

Diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk held urgent negotiations with the management of the detention center and the orphanage regarding this situation. As a result, the woman was released in a short time, and a certificate for her return to her homeland was issued.

Diplomats brought the child to Tolmachevo International Airport and handed him over to his mother. Following this, the mother and child were escorted back to Uzbekistan.

For information, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan has assisted in the repatriation of a total of 5 children over the past week. Citizens who find themselves in difficult situations in Russia are advised to contact diplomatic missions in a timely manner for consular assistance.
