In South Korea, an Uzbek national engaged in illegal taxi services brutally beat a local driver

A serious conflict occurred between a labor migrant from Uzbekistan and a local resident in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. An Uzbek citizen, who was illegally engaged in passenger transport, brutally beat a Korean taxi driver who tried to film him, until the victim lost consciousness. The suspect has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.

The incident took place on October 18 of this year and caused a major resonance in local media and social networks.

According to reports, the 30-year-old Uzbek citizen was engaged in illegal taxi services using his private car, receiving orders mainly through Telegram groups. On that day, a 50-year-old local Korean taxi driver noticed this illegal activity. He demanded that the migrant stop the violation and attempted to record it on his mobile phone as evidence. Enraged, the Uzbek citizen attacked the local driver and delivered a powerful punch to his jaw.

According to witnesses and dashcam footage, the Korean driver fell to the ground from the impact and lost consciousness. However, the attacker did not stop and continued to brutally kick and punch the unconscious man. After committing the crime, he fled the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital with a concussion and serious bodily injuries. The driver remains in serious condition and is undergoing treatment.

South Korean police, having carefully studied surveillance camera and dashcam footage, arrested the Uzbek suspect on October 22. He is currently in custody and being interrogated. Law enforcement authorities stated that depending on the final medical report from the hospital, the charges against the migrant could be upgraded.

This incident has sparked intense debate in Korean society. As a result, the country's police and immigration service have announced large-scale raids to identify foreign nationals engaged in illegal taxi and transport services by the end of the year.
