Passenger arriving from Uzbekistan detained with 2 million rubles worth of contraband

At Kurumoch International Airport in the Samara region, customs officers uncovered an attempt to illegally transport goods of strategic importance. An Indian citizen arriving from Uzbekistan was stopped while passing through the airport's "green channel."

During the inspection of the passenger's luggage, 107 synthetic diamonds of various sizes and colors were discovered. According to expert analysis, the market value of these laboratory-grown stones is 2 million rubles. Under Russian law, these stones are classified as strategically important resources and goods.

A criminal case has been initiated against the Indian citizen under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources). Investigative actions are currently underway.

We remind you that passengers on international flights are required to comply with customs regulations and declare goods of strategic importance. Violating these rules may result in criminal liability.
