Fake documents and attempted bribery: Uzbek migrant sentenced to 1.5 years in prison

The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Volgograd has delivered a guilty verdict against a citizen of Uzbekistan. The 39-year-old man was found guilty of document forgery and attempted bribery of a public official.

The incident occurred in March 2026. The man applied to the passport and visa service to obtain a work patent in Russia. Among the documents he submitted was a certificate confirming his proficiency in the Russian language, history, and legislation. However, the service officer determined that the certificate was fake.

In an attempt to avoid criminal liability, the migrant offered the police officer a bribe of 15,000 rubles. This action was stopped on the spot, and the man was arrested. According to the court verdict under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in a general regime penal colony and fined 30,000 rubles.

This case serves as a warning to foreign citizens not to use fake documents when applying for a patent and to comply with legal procedures. Any illegal act, particularly offering a bribe, leads to severe criminal liability in accordance with Russian legislation.
