Uzbek migrant who fought in the Russian army sentenced to 2 years in prison

A citizen of Uzbekistan, F.A., who was working as a labor migrant in Russia, was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison in 2022 for a crime related to drug trafficking. While serving his sentence, he was offered a cash reward and citizenship in exchange for participating in combat operations as part of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to court documents, the individual initially refused, but was forced to sign the contract due to pressure in the colony. He was promised a one-time payment of 1.9 million rubles and a monthly salary of 210,000 rubles. In July 2025, he completed military training, was sent to the front, and received a payment of 400,000 rubles.

On September 2, 2025, F.A. was wounded in a combat zone. After receiving treatment, he left his military unit in February 2026 and returned to his homeland with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan. On August 12, 2026, the Pap District Court found him guilty under Part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan and sentenced him to 2 years in prison.

In delivering the verdict, the court took into account the individual's full confession, his remorse, and the difficult circumstances that led to the commission of the crime as mitigating factors.
