Uzbekistan national accused of bribery in Russia sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison

The Vyborg District Court of Saint Petersburg has issued a verdict against Uzbekistan citizen Rasuljon Kamchiev. He was found guilty under Article 291, Part 4, Clause 'b' of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribery on a large scale).

According to investigators, Kamchiev colluded with an Interior Ministry officer to conduct checks on foreign nationals in the database to ensure their legal stay in Russia. He offered the officer a monetary reward to illegally obtain information about 33 foreign citizens. Between August 25, 2024, and May 17, 2025, he paid the officer a total of 400,000 rubles in bribes.

During the trial, Kamchiev fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions. According to him, he had reported the incident to the investigative authorities himself. Nevertheless, the court sentenced Kamchiev to 2 years and 4 months in a strict-regime penal colony.

This case serves as a reminder to migrants that bribery and entering into illegal agreements with officials lead to severe criminal liability under Russian law. Attempts to illegally access Interior Ministry information systems or forge documents are strictly punished.
