In the Republic of Mordovia, a court has sentenced a foreign national who violated migration laws. According to investigators, the man offered a police officer a bribe of 60,000 rubles to avoid administrative measures. The law enforcement officer rejected the offer and immediately reported the incident.
During an undercover operation conducted to expose the crime, the migrant was apprehended by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) while attempting to hand over an additional 25,000 rubles. By court decision, the defendant was sentenced to 1 year in a general-regime penal colony.
Meanwhile, strict measures regarding compliance with migration rules continue in Russia. For example, earlier in the Kamchatka Territory, a local resident was sentenced to 2 years in prison for illegally registering 121 foreigners in his apartment.
These cases serve as a reminder to migrants residing in Russia about the importance of legalizing their documents and refraining from illegal activities. Any corrupt actions or attempts to circumvent the law can lead to severe criminal consequences.
