According to statistical data provided by the press service of the Russian Security Council, the number of crimes committed by foreigners in the country decreased by 39.5 percent during the first nine months of 2026. It is also noted that the number of foreign citizens who committed crimes has dropped by more than a quarter.
According to the statistics, the number of crimes committed against foreigners has also decreased by 18.9 percent. These data once again remind us of the importance of adhering to legal procedures for migrants staying in Russia.
It should be recalled that, according to changes being made to Russian legislation, the list of offenses leading to the expulsion of foreigners from the country has been expanded starting in November. Now, deportation measures, along with fines, can be applied under 45 articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses instead of the previous 22.
Additionally, the first stage of a pilot project for the organized recruitment of labor migrants in Russia is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2027, and the second stage on January 1, 2029. It is specifically emphasized that migrants are required to respect Russian laws, the language, and local traditions.
