Migrant arrested for attempting to scrap an acquaintance's car

A 38-year-old local resident contacted the Russian Interior Ministry's department in the Rybnovsky District to report the theft of his VAZ-2115 vehicle. The car had been parked on one of the city streets.

During investigative operations, police officers identified the suspect. It turned out to be a 36-year-old foreign national who had used a tow rope to attach the car to his own vehicle, transported it to a scrap metal collection point, and sold it. The suspect had hoped the crime would go unnoticed, taking advantage of the owner's absence.

Police officers recovered the stolen vehicle and returned it to its rightful owner. The suspect has been taken into custody. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft").

Furthermore, administrative measures are being taken against the individual for violating the rules of stay on Russian territory. The investigation is ongoing.
