Nearly 18 million rubles allocated for travel expenses to bring Indians to Russia

Nearly 18 million rubles allocated for travel expenses to bring Indians to Russia

The Ostrovsky waste processing complex (KPO) in St. Petersburg has failed to implement a project to hire 120 foreign workers. The project aimed to recruit migrants from India, covering the costs of one-year work visas, airfare, and processing fees. A public procurement tender worth 17.8 million rubles was announced for these purposes.

Representatives of the Nevsky Ecological Operator (NEO) stated that the initiative arose against the backdrop of tightened migration policies and rising labor costs from Central Asia. Although the company promised to hire workers without prior experience and provide training, these plans did not materialize in practice.

According to official data, the public procurement tender concluded in April, yet the name of the winning company and the reasons for the workers' failure to arrive have not been disclosed. Currently, Indian migrants have not started working at the Ostrovsky complex, and the future of the project remains uncertain.
