Winter is knocking on Russia's door: Where did the first snow fall and when will it reach the central regions?

Leading meteorologist of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Lyudmila Parshina, reported that snow has already covered the ground in the northern and eastern parts of the country. In the area of the Gorely volcano in the north of the Kamchatka Territory, a snow layer of up to 2 centimeters has formed. Due to a sharp drop in air temperature in mountainous areas, precipitation began at the end of the first ten days of September.

Heavy snowfall was also observed in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which hindered traffic on the road leading to the Ergaki Nature Park. According to experts, snowfall here in late August and early September is normal, and a stable snow cover will fully form by mid-September.

Cyclone impact: The situation in Yakutia A powerful cyclone coming from the Sea of Okhotsk caused widespread snowfall in Yakutia. Precipitation in the form of wet snow continues in the central, western, and southern parts of the region. On the Arctic coast, wind speeds have increased to 15–20 meters per second.

At night, the air temperature drops to minus 5 degrees, and under clear skies, it drops to minus 12 degrees. In Yakutsk, night frosts of minus 3–5 degrees are observed, and daytime temperatures are expected to warm up to plus 3–5 degrees.

What are the forecasts for major cities and the Urals? Experts do not forecast abnormally heavy snowfall this year, but the change of seasons will occur on schedule.

* Moscow: According to Yevgeny Tishkovets, a specialist at the Fobos weather center, the first snowflakes in the capital may appear in the second half of October. However, this snow will be temporary and will melt quickly. A stable snow cover that fully covers the ground will form only in December. * St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region: In the northwestern regions, snow is expected at the end of October. In the northern and eastern districts of the region, due to a colder climate, snow may settle a few days earlier. * Yekaterinburg: In the Ural capital, the weather will deteriorate sharply by the end of September. Starting from September 24, a drop in temperature and wet snow are forecast.

Calendar for Siberia and Altai According to climatologist Alexey Nepomnyashchikh, snowy days in the Siberian regions are expected according to the following schedule:
