Appeals regarding the conscription of foreign workers for military service in Russia have increased

Recently, reports have been circulating on the internet regarding the summoning of foreign citizens working in Russia to military commissariats. In particular, it has been reported that the Moscow military commissariat has issued instructions to organizations to clarify information about foreign men aged 18 to 50 and to notify them about the summons.

According to Russian legislation, foreign citizens are not subject to mobilization on the same grounds as Russian citizens, but they have the right to voluntarily enter military service under a contract. For this reason, the content of the summons from the military commissariat or the documents being offered, as well as the voluntary nature of the contract signing process, are of great importance.

Experts note that difficulties arise because foreign workers do not fully understand their rights and obligations, have low language proficiency, and are dependent on their employers. Furthermore, the fear of potential problems during document processing can be an additional source of pressure for migrants.

If threats or coercion are observed during the contract signing process, such cases require legal assessment. It is important for foreign workers to seek independent legal assistance to protect their rights and to avoid being subjected to pressure.
