Construction site manager found guilty in migrant's death sentenced to 1.5 years of forced labor

A court verdict has been delivered in the Vladimir region regarding a tragic incident at a construction site. According to investigators, on May 1, 2026, a 24-year-old foreign worker fell from the 17th floor of a high-rise building under construction while performing concrete compaction work. The victim died at the scene.

It was determined that the deceased worker did not have the appropriate authorization for working at heights and was not using safety harnesses. The construction site manager allowed the employee to perform work at height that was outside his duties and required special training, while also failing to ensure safety measures.

During the trial, the defendant pleaded guilty. By court decision, he was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of forced labor and was deprived of the right to engage in certain types of activities in the construction sector. Additionally, the defendant paid 700,000 rubles in compensation to the family of the deceased.

This case serves as an important warning for migrants, reminding them that if an employer fails to provide safety measures or assigns tasks without proper authorization, it is a vital necessity to immediately contact labor safety officials or refuse to perform dangerous work.
