The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city of Moscow has announced the conclusion of the investigation into a criminal case involving the death of two people in 2015. The accused is a foreign national born in 1993, who faces charges under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for murder and robbery.
According to the investigation, on the night of February 14, 2015, the accused broke into an apartment on Shabolovka Street in Moscow with the intent to commit theft. He attacked the residents — a woman and her underage daughter — and took their lives. Following this, the suspect stole valuables worth more than 568,000 rubles from the apartment and fled the scene.
The process of identifying the crime scene evidence and locating the suspect took a significant amount of time. Investigators and forensic experts managed to identify the perpetrator through the analysis of fingerprints collected at the scene and the examination of surveillance camera footage. It was revealed that after the crime, he left the territory of Russia but later returned and had been living in the Kostroma region.
Currently, the accused is in custody following a court order. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and confirmed that he had acted out of mercenary motives. The evidence base collected by the investigative authorities has been submitted to the court, and the case is expected to be heard on its merits in the near future.
