Conflict over product quality arises in Novokuybyshevsk

Viktoriya Katkova, the mayor of Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara region, encountered an unpleasant situation while visiting one of the city's retail stores. The mayor intended to purchase legumes and dried fruits but discovered insects in the products.

Following this, the city head asked the seller to provide documents and certificates confirming the quality of the goods. However, the seller responded rudely, using offensive language. On her social media page, Viktoriya Katkova emphasized that this situation constitutes a violation of consumer rights and poses a health risk.

It is noted that all products from the store have been handed over to the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) for inspection. The mayor reminded customers that they have the right to return substandard goods and, should the seller refuse, they may contact the relevant regulatory authorities.

This incident has sparked discussions among city residents. The city administration announced that it has taken the operations of this store under personal control. According to Russian legislation, compliance with sanitary and quality standards in retail facilities is mandatory.
