Consequences of the fire at a construction site in Omsk

On August 15, a major fire broke out at a construction site in the "Kvartaly Draverta" microdistrict in the Russian city of Omsk. As a result of the incident, 11 construction workers were hospitalized, all of whom were working under a contract.

According to official reports, welding work was being carried out at the time of the fire, and the fire spread rapidly after sparks landed on insulation material. The fire covered an area of 1,000 square meters. Emergency services personnel extinguished the blaze and provided medical assistance to the victims.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, there are citizens of Uzbekistan among the injured. After receiving medical care, three workers were discharged. Unfortunately, one of those remaining in the hospital passed away, while the other seven citizens are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a criminal case under the article concerning the violation of occupational safety rules. At present, the prosecutor's office and relevant authorities are conducting an investigation into the causes of the fire, as well as compliance with labor safety and migration laws.
