5 migrants held accountable for violations at a construction site in Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg police continue to conduct control measures at construction sites and areas where migrants reside in the city. According to the Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the latest raid took place at a construction camp located at 103 Pulkovo Highway.

During the raid, law enforcement officers checked the documents of nearly 300 foreign citizens. It was noted that some individuals attempted to hide from the police, including one person who tried to climb onto the roof of a temporary housing unit (bitovka). However, after the police demanded he stop, he abandoned the attempt.

Following the inspection, 5 foreign citizens were found to have violated the rules of stay in Russia. They were taken to a police station and fined under Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Currently, the issue of their expulsion from the country is being considered.

Police representatives stated that such raids in areas with high concentrations of foreign nationals in Saint Petersburg will continue. Migrants are advised to keep their documents in order at all times and to comply with Russian legislation.
