Sennoy Market, located in the center of Saint Petersburg, and its surrounding areas were cordoned off by law enforcement officers on October 16. During the raid, the market area was temporarily closed, and entry and exit were restricted. The operation, involving OMON and special forces, includes checking the documents of foreign nationals.
Inspections are also being carried out in nearby hostels, ethnic cafes, and a prayer room that can accommodate up to a thousand people. According to official reports, several dozen individuals suspected of violating migration laws have been detained. The inspection activities are ongoing.
Staff from the military commissariat are also involved in the raid. They are working to identify individuals who have obtained Russian citizenship but have not registered for military service. As a result, it was reported that summonses to the military commissariat were issued to several dozen people.
Citizens present in the area are requested to carry all identity and migration-related documents (passport, patent, registration) with them at all times and to comply with the lawful demands of law enforcement officers.
