New migration control raids conducted in Yekaterinburg

New migration control raids conducted in Yekaterinburg

YEKATERINBURG, September 7. Law enforcement agencies conducted raids on logistics complexes and warehouses in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Yekaterinburg. The operation involved personnel from the Russian Interior Ministry, the Military Investigative Department, and fighters from the Rosgvardiya SOBR special unit.

The main purpose of the inspections was to identify individuals who had recently acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation but had not registered for military service as required by law, as well as foreign citizens working in the country without legal authorization.

As a result of the control measures at the warehouses, 12 foreign citizens without legal work permits in Russia and 10 Russian citizens not registered for military service were identified. All these individuals were sent to military commissariats for military registration and clarification of their legal status.

Law enforcement agencies of the Sverdlovsk region stated that such control measures in this area will continue consistently in the future. Experts note that a systemic solution to implementing these measures, aimed at ensuring the rule of law, is to increase the legal literacy of labor migrants and strengthen the responsibility of employers.

For reference, in early July of this year, during a similar inspection at a facility in the suburbs, 42 migrants were detained, 12 of whom were deported from the country.
