Foreign students studying in Russia on a full-time basis can now officially engage in labor activities. During the employment process, applicants are required to submit a number of documents. Specifically, a passport, RVP (temporary residence permit), RVPO (temporary residence permit for education purposes), or VNJ (residence permit), a labor book, SNILS, educational documents, military registration documents, a criminal record certificate, and a medical insurance policy (DMS) are required. It is also mandatory to provide a certificate from the educational institution confirming the student's status.
Employers must pay attention to several important aspects when hiring foreign students. In particular, insurance contributions and income tax rates are determined based on the employee's citizenship and their tax residency status. Furthermore, it is strictly prohibited to send foreign students on business trips.
According to the legislation, if a student is expelled from their educational institution, the employment contract concluded with them must also be terminated. Failure to comply with these rules entails administrative liability for employers. Therefore, students planning to seek employment are advised to verify the completeness of all documents and clarify the terms of the contract with the employer in advance.
