A number of significant changes for self-employed individuals have been implemented in Russia in 2026. For citizens of Uzbekistan, this status remains one of the most convenient ways to operate legally in Russia, but it is important to be aware of the new rules. Specifically, starting October 1, 2026, it has been established that for those working through digital platforms, the working time with a single client must not exceed 60 hours within a six-month period.
One of the most important innovations is the introduction of a voluntary social insurance system for the self-employed. It is now possible to gain the right to sick leave by paying monthly contributions. To do this, one must choose an insurance amount of 35,000 or 50,000 rubles and pay a monthly contribution of 1,344 or 1,920 rubles, respectively. The right to sick leave is granted six months after the payments begin.
It should be kept in mind that the period of self-employment does not count towards pension seniority. Furthermore, the annual income limit remains at 2.4 million rubles. If income exceeds this amount, the taxpayer is required to switch to a different tax regime. Family tax deductions are not provided for the self-employed, as they do not pay personal income tax (NDFL).
We remind you that to obtain self-employed status in Russia, citizens of Uzbekistan must have a Russian INN (Taxpayer Identification Number). The registration process is carried out via the 'Gosuslugi' portal or the 'Moy nalog' application. To ensure legal compliance and avoid fines, it is recommended to take these new restrictions and opportunities into account.
