Tax registration simplified in Russia: service to be provided online from October 1

The Federal Tax Service of Russia has issued a new order simplifying the tax registration procedure for foreign citizens. According to the order, starting October 1, 2026, migrants will be able to use remote services without visiting a tax office in person.

To take advantage of this opportunity, a foreign citizen must have a verified personal account on the 'Gosuslugi' portal. Applications for tax registration or de-registration are to be filled out electronically and submitted via the taxpayer's personal account.

This innovation will significantly shorten the document processing time for migrants and help save time. Additionally, the tax service has approved a new application form adapted for the electronic system.

It should be noted that this procedure comes into effect on October 1, 2026. From that date, foreigners will be able to carry out operations related to tax authorities online without leaving their homes.
