Criminal case initiated in Russia over fictitious registration

Criminal case initiated in Russia over fictitious registration

A violation of migration legislation has been identified in the Ostrovsky municipal district of the Pskov region. According to investigators, a local resident born in 1978 fictitiously registered a foreign woman at his residential address in March of this year without granting her the actual right to reside there.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fictitious registration of a foreign citizen or stateless person at a place of stay"). Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating all the details of the case.

The Russian Interior Ministry's department for the Pskov region has urged the public to comply with migration laws. According to the law, fictitious registration is punishable by a fine ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 rubles, compulsory labor, or imprisonment for up to three years.

As such violations impact the migration control system, law enforcement agencies conduct regular inspections. Migrants are advised to ensure that their registration addresses correspond to their actual places of residence.
