Foreigners in Russia and their children are required to have a medical insurance policy

A medical insurance policy is mandatory for all foreign citizens residing in Russia, including young children. This document must be valid for the entire period of stay in the country.

There are two ways to obtain insurance. The first is a voluntary medical insurance (DMS) policy, which is the primary option for children of labor migrants. This policy can be issued for a period of 6, 9, or 12 months. Prices vary depending on the chosen package of services: for example, the annual fee for the "Standard" program is approximately 5,000 rubles, while extended programs cost 8,000 or 12,000 rubles.

The second option is a compulsory medical insurance (OMS) policy. It is provided free of charge, but is only available to foreigners who hold a residence permit (VNJ) or a temporary residence permit (RVP).

It should be kept in mind that having a medical insurance policy is one of the basic requirements for enrolling children in school or kindergarten. To issue a DMS policy, the child's passport (with translation), migration card, and registration document are required. The child's personal presence is not required during the document processing.
