18 people convicted for obtaining documents through sham marriages

The Paninsky District Court of the Voronezh region has delivered a verdict against 18 individuals found guilty of organizing illegal migration. During the trial, it was established that the members of this group had set up a scheme of entering into sham marriages with Russian citizens to help foreign nationals obtain residence permits (VNJ) in Russia.

According to the criminal case, the group's organizer, R. G. Verdiyev-ogly, together with his accomplices P. M. Aleksandrova, N. N. Danchenko, and 15 others, organized sham marriages for migrants in exchange for money. This method allowed foreigners to obtain the right to legal residence in Russia through a simplified procedure. None of the defendants pleaded guilty.

By the court's decision, the group's organizer was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment and fined 400,000 rubles. His main assistants were sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, with each fined 300,000 rubles. The remaining 15 participants were sent to a general regime penal colony for a term of 2 years, and each was ordered to pay a fine of 300,000 rubles.

It is worth noting that the court verdict has not yet entered into legal force, and the parties have the right to appeal it. This case serves as another reminder that attempts to circumvent migration legislation in Russia are under strict control and that actions related to forged documents lead to serious criminal liability.
