Fake migrant registration: homeowner fined 370,000 rubles

The Samara Regional Court reviewed the sentence against a local resident who fictitiously registered foreign citizens at her place of residence. The initial court decision imposed a fine of 400,000 rubles on the woman, but during the appeal process, this amount was reduced to 370,000 rubles.

According to the court's press service, the woman fictitiously registered foreigners in a total of 24 cases. The appellate instance determined that the statute of limitations had expired for three episodes, which served as grounds for reducing the total fine by 30,000 rubles. The charges for the remaining cases were upheld.

Case materials note that such actions limited the ability of migration authorities to monitor compliance with accounting and movement rules by foreigners within the country. Although the defendant requested the court's decision be overturned, considering it too harsh, the regional court left the verdict unchanged.

This case serves as an important reminder for migrants that registration at the actual address of residence is a legal requirement in Russia. Fictitious registration can lead not only to large fines for homeowners but also to violations of migration rules by foreign citizens, negatively impacting their status.
