According to the Russian Interior Ministry's department for the city of Volgograd, the investigation into an organized group that facilitated the illegal stay of 127 foreign citizens in the country has been completed, and the case has been referred to the Traktorozavodsky District Court. The group consisted of a 61-year-old Azerbaijani citizen, his 56-year-old accomplice, and his 30-year-old nephew. All of them had obtained Russian citizenship several years ago.
According to the investigation, from April 2021 to June 2025, the group members fictitiously registered citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan at residential properties they owned. They also processed forged employment contracts that allowed migrants to obtain work permits and extend their stay in Russia. For these services, they charged each individual between 3,000 and 6,000 rubles.
As part of the criminal case, it was determined that the group earned a total income of approximately 900,000 rubles. In June 2025, the police put an end to this illegal activity. Currently, the suspects are in custody and have not admitted their guilt.
The defendants have been charged under Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of illegal migration) and other articles. They face up to 15 years in prison and the risk of being stripped of their Russian citizenship.
