The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Court has upheld the sentence against a member of a criminal group accused of the illegal legalization of migrants. According to the court's decision, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in a general regime penal colony and fined 1.1 million rubles.
According to the prosecutor's office, between 2022 and 2024, the criminal group facilitated the illegal stay of 223 foreign citizens in Russia using forged documents. Furthermore, in 2023–2024, group members orchestrated fraudulent examinations in the Russian language, Russian history, and the fundamentals of legislation, which enabled another 243 migrants to obtain legal status.
During the trial, the defendant fully admitted his guilt. He was found guilty of participating in a criminal organization, fictitious registration of foreign citizens, and organizing their illegal stay. The defense's appeal was denied, and the court's verdict has entered into legal force.
