Today, September 7, 2026, three important international dates dedicated to ecology, international security, and the upbringing of the younger generation are being widely celebrated across the world. These international holidays were established by the UN and major international organizations to draw attention to the most pressing issues in society.
International Day of Clean Air for blue skies
This environmental date was officially proclaimed by the United Nations (UN) in 2019, and the global community first celebrated it in 2020. The main goal of the celebration is to combat atmospheric air pollution, which has become a global problem, and to remind that all states must act together to protect our planet. By tradition, every year on September 7, major environmental events, scientific-practical conferences, and large-scale awareness campaigns on environmental protection are organized in many countries around the world.
International Day of Police Cooperation
Established by the UN General Assembly in 2022, this international day is among the relatively new holidays and was first officially celebrated in 2023. This date highlights the importance of strengthening international ties and exchanging experience between law enforcement agencies of different states. The holiday serves to honor the arduous work of police officers who serve day and night in the fight against international crime and terrorism, as well as in ensuring peace and global security throughout the world.
World Day of Destroying War Toys
This unique and humanitarian date was added to the calendar in 1988 at the initiative of the World Association for Aid to Orphans and Children Deprived of Parental Care. The main idea of the holiday is to form a negative attitude towards war, weapons, and any forms of violence in the younger generation from early childhood, and to raise them in a spirit of peace. On this day, experts urge parents not to buy toy guns, knives, or tanks for their children and encourage them to replace these aggressive items with soft toys or construction sets that develop creative, logical, and intellectual potential.
