Currency turnover of individuals in Uzbekistan increased by 31%

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has released its financial report for the first half of 2026. According to the report, the currency turnover of the country's citizens increased by 31% compared to the same period last year, reaching 19.1 billion dollars.

During the reporting period, the banking sector purchased 12.3 billion dollars from the population and sold 6.8 billion dollars to them. The net supply of foreign currency provided by citizens amounted to 5.5 billion dollars. This indicates that this indicator in the overall structure has increased from 26% to 29%.

Furthermore, the volume of remittances entering Uzbekistan from January to June of the current year increased by 13%, totaling 9.3 billion dollars. Experts believe this growth is linked to the strengthening of national currencies in countries where migrants work, as well as the sustained demand for labor.

The volume of P2P (peer-to-peer) transfers in the domestic market grew by 32%, reaching 4.8 billion dollars. Funds sent from Uzbekistan abroad amounted to 1.3 billion dollars, an 8% increase compared to the previous year.

Bank analyst Alina Korneyeva noted that the rise in the volume of transactions carried out through remote services and 24/7 ATMs indicates that the population's access to digital banking tools is expanding.
