Education for migrant children in grades 10-11 may become paid in Russia

In Russia, there is a proposal to introduce a paid education system for children of foreign citizens in grades 10-11. This initiative was put forward by the LDPR party and supported by Alexander Mitryuk, a member of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.

The expert noted that approximately 40 billion rubles are spent annually on the education of foreign citizens. In his opinion, it is advisable to direct these funds toward the development of school infrastructure. Specifically, 40 billion rubles could be used to build and commission 69 new educational institutions designed for approximately 31,000 students.

Although Alexander Mitryuk supports the proposal conceptually, he noted that it would require a review of bilateral intergovernmental agreements within the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to be implemented. It was also emphasized that 682.5 billion rubles have been allocated for the "Development of Education" state program for 2027, and in the context of a budget deficit, the state must prioritize its social obligations to its own citizens.

For now, the initiative is in the discussion stage, and no final decision has been made. Changes regarding the education of children of Uzbek migrants working in Russia may come into effect only after official documents are adopted.
