Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) have proposed a legislative initiative to prioritize the admission of children with Russian citizenship into kindergartens and schools. This proposal is outlined in an official appeal sent to the Russian Ministry of Education.
Lawmakers explain this step by the need to reduce the shortage of places in educational institutions and to create favorable conditions for families who are Russian citizens. The appeal notes that in 2024, nearly 13,000 children were unable to secure spots in preschool educational institutions.
LDPR representatives suggest reviewing certain benefits currently available to children of foreign nationals. They believe that children of foreigners should only be admitted to educational institutions if there are vacancies available. If this initiative is adopted, migrants may face difficulties in enrolling their children in public kindergartens and schools.
Currently, this proposal is only at the stage of a legislative initiative and has not yet become an official law. Citizens of Uzbekistan working in Russia are advised to monitor any changes in the regulations concerning the education of migrant children.
