Sergey Mironov, a deputy of the Russian State Duma and leader of the 'A Just Russia' party, has sent an appeal to the Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev proposing a sharp tightening of migration rules. According to the proposal, all foreigners with a criminal record should be banned from entering Russia for life. While current legislation only restricts the entry of individuals with unexpunged criminal records, the new initiative proposes imposing a ban on all convicted persons, regardless of whether their criminal record has been cleared.
The deputy also proposes banning migrants from working in sectors such as education, trade, and transport. The appeal also raises issues regarding restricting migrants' ability to change employers or regions of employment, as well as prohibiting them from bringing their family members to Russia. If a migrant commits a legal violation, it is proposed that their entire family be deported from the country.
These initiatives are being put forward with the aim of regulating migration policy and ensuring security in Russia. For now, these proposals are in draft form and do not have the status of an official law. Nevertheless, given that the Russian government is working to strengthen control in the field of migration, migrants are advised to be more careful in complying with documents and laws.
