Rules for migrants in Tatarstan are tightening: what you need to know?

Rules for migrants in Tatarstan are tightening: what you need to know?

More than 100,000 foreign citizens officially reside in the Republic of Tatarstan. As announced at a roundtable held at the House of Friendship, about 53,000 of these migrants are engaged in labor activities, while more than 9,000 have arrived for educational purposes.

Authorities have set the main task of ensuring that migrants live in a legal and civilized manner, as well as strengthening their integration into local society. To this end, regular quarterly meetings are held with the heads of national-cultural associations.

Attention migrants: starting from 2025, the period of visa-free stay in Russia is set at a total of 90 days within a calendar year. Also, starting from November 2026, the list of administrative offenses that lead to mandatory expulsion from the country will be expanded from 22 to 45.

In addition, the amount of fines for violating procedures and working illegally will be significantly increased. Against the backdrop of these changes, the republic's leadership emphasizes the importance of familiarizing migrants with new legislative requirements and increasing their legal literacy.
